Fine dining at The Table

Back in March we started hearing about the hottest new restaurant in Edinburgh, The Table. It already had a lengthy waiting list and at a fairly steep price of £70pp we decided this would be a perfect venue for our first meal out in Edinburgh as a married couple at the beginning of August. We had a few days off after our honeymoon so we booked for the Thursday night. They only offer one sitting per night at 7pm but with 10 hours of prep time for the chefs and a 7 course meal to deliver, I’m surprised they can even offer this!

‘TEN SEATS, TWO CHEFS, ONE TABLE’

The restaurant is lovely, although it is more like sitting in someone’s fancy kitchen – 10 seats are all they offer, lined along the bar which overlooks the kitchen. Basically, the two chefs prep and cook everything literally 2 feet in front of you throughout the (up to) four hours you’re there.

So did it live up to the hype?

Dinner at the Table isn’t just a meal out. The whole evening is a wonderfully delicious, interactive experience from start to finish…

Educated Flea in Edinburgh

Just before the wedding we took a break from planning and treated ourselves to a date night at a new hidden gem in Edinburgh, the Educated Flea on Broughton Street. This is the latest restaurant from the team that own Three Birds in Bruntsfield and Apiary in Newington.

In case you’re wondering where this eclectic range of restaurant names came from, here’s the answer…

“And that’s why birds do it, bees do it
Even educated fleas do it
Let’s do it, let’s fall in love” – Cole Porter

We got married!

This is just a very quick blog post to say that after a year of planning we finally got married! It was the most beautiful and amazing day of my entire life and I could not be happier!

Here are a couple of photos from the day but a proper blog post will follow in the next few weeks.

Wedding planning: the home straight 🎉

As I enter the home straight in the weeks running up to the big day I thought I’d share some more of the things I’ve learnt over the past year. I was planning on blogging a lot more about wedding planning but to be honest, I’ve never been so busy, tired and fatigued in my whole life as I have this past year. It has been super stressful but I know 100% that it will be worth it.

So if you’ve just got engaged or you’re already in the depths of wedding planning, here are a few of my bride-to-be tips…

Honest wedding planning tips

Always remember why

What is the one reason why you’re getting married?

This shouldn’t be a difficult question but when you’re knee deep in unrealistic Pinterest dreaming, it can be easy to forget it. My reason is that I love my other half and want to commit to spending the rest of our lives together, through the difficult times and the happy times. Honestly, I don’t care about the rest. Okay, I do but I’ve found that as long as I keep reminding myself of this one goal of our wedding day then everything else will be okay and all fall into place. Don’t worry!

Sunday Steak in Edinburgh

WARNING! Veggies, please look away now!

This is one of the meatiest blog posts I have ever written. It might even be meatier than my Steak on Stones visit.
If I was on death row (bear with me) and had to choose what my last ever meal would be, I think it would have to be a Sunday roast. Followed by a cheese board, obvs. So when I was invited to the best steak restaurant in Edinburgh (aptly named Steak) I jumped at the chance! My other half didn’t need much any convincing to accompany me either.
