The lovely people at Fake Tattoos recently sent me some samples of nail art tattoos. I decided to use these cute little birds as my nickname from my mum and dad has been ‘Jennie Wren’ ever since I was a baby. I also painted a similar design (shown below) onto a canvas a few years ago so this was my main inspiration.

A few years ago I saw a painting of birds on a wire in a coffee shop in Edinburgh. I loved it and so I thought to myself “how hard could that be?” and I painted my own. I love the painting and I think this nail art design compliments it perfectly.

Tutorial:

Step 1: paint nails black. I just used a cheap black Rimmel nail polish. One coat was enough as I was painting over it anyway.

Step 2: Once the black had dried I added strips of nail tape at angles to each nail. This is for the wire for the birds to sit on.

Step 3: I then painted over the tape with two coats of a neutral nail polish then once it was just about dry I carefully peeled the tape off.

Step 4: Once all the nail polish was fully dry I carefully applied the bird tattoos using the instructions supplied with them.

Step 5: Finally I added two coats of a good quality top coat to protect the design and give a glossy finish.

Thank you so much to Fake Tattoos for the nail decals. This has to be one of my favourite designs of all time!
