Christmas is just around the corner and I am feeling fantastically festive. In case you’ve missed it on Instagram or my Facebook page, I’m doing a daily #ChristmasJumperCountdown where I wear a different festive jumper every day in December. But that’s not all I’ve been doing, here’s what else I’ve been up to…
Edinburgh is an absolutely beautiful city and I love living here (apart from when it rains), but when I need a really good retail therapy session I always head to Glasgow. I’m originally from near Newcastle and I think these two cities are among the best in the UK for shopping. Today I heard the fantastic news that Glasgow is getting its own Models Own Bottleshop and I am absolutely delighted!
I love a bit of nail art and Models Own is without a doubt one of my favourite nail polish brands. I’m always in awe seeing the Bottleshop pictures on Instagram so I’m over the moon that they’re launching their first stand-alone Bottleshop in Scotland at Buchanan Galleries on Tuesday 20th October – whoop!
It’s been all about food and the our new kitchen on the blog recently so here’s something a bit different – nail polish!
I used to blog about nail art all the time and created quite a name for myself by doing so. I would still never EVER dream of leaving the house with bare naked nails but I don’t really have the time to commit to nail art like I used to. I was delighted to be asked to review the Hawaii Little Hulas Mini Pack. They are perfect for taking on holiday and the pink are green are just my sort of colours.
I decided to use the pink as the base and added some green dots using my nail art dotting tool. The little nail polishes are so cute and I was worried the brushes would be little and fiddly but they were a surprisingly decent size. I was a little disappointed by the coverage of the nail polish as after three coats it was still a bit patchy. OPI is one of the kings of nail polish (I usually opt for the cheaper BarryM or Models Own) so this was quite surprising.
As I have an ASOS Premier account, I had the luxury of being super lazy and instead of searching through Superdrug and Boots, I just ordered them all from ASOS and with the free next day delivery they landed on my desk, as if by magic, yesterday lunch time.
Last week’s nails were all about Rimmel! I painted all of my nails with Rimmel PRO ultra violet then added flowers using nails art pens that I got from Paperchase. To finish the look off I added a matt Rimmel top coat.
Making sure your nails last the length of your holiday can be tricky, unless you use shellac (which I never do). My other half and I have just returned from a week long break in Italy which involved a trip to Ravello for a wedding then sight seeing and relaxing in Rome for a few days. I will of course publish a blog post soon containing all the details and photos. Before we left I decided on the best nail design that would be pretty (for the wedding) yet long lasting. I chose the BarryM textured nail polish and BarryM glitter…
These photos were taken as I sat and sunbathed outside our apartment in Ravello, just hours before the wedding. The views were stunning and the bright sunshine complimented my glitter nails perfectly!
