Upcycled vintage drawers

Apologies for the radio silence over the past couple of months; time has absolutely flown by! I was struggling with my MS as usual but we’ve also been planning for our honeymoon to Australia – not long to go now! But enough about all that, this blog post is long overdue as I painted these drawers a few months ago now.

I’ve always loved crafting but fancied a bigger project so I bought a solid wood chest of drawers from a charity shop in Leith with the view to give it a new lease of life with an upcycled makeover.

New Chaophraya Edinburgh menu

I love Thai food so was delighted to be invited to Chaophraya in Edinburgh to sample their new menu. I’ve been to this restaurant a couple of times in the past but I think this meal was actually the best I’ve had there yet…

Chaophraya Edinburgh

Located on the top floor of a building on Castle Street, just off Princes Street, the restaurant has a fantastic view of Edinburgh Castle if you’re lucky enough to get one of the seats in the old balcony area. Don’t worry, you’re sitting inside but this area used to be outside in its previous incarnation, Oloroso. (more…)

Our Pinterest wedding

Nearly 3 months ago, we got married! 👰🎉❤️🍾💐

We had the most amazing day and couldn’t have been any luckier with the stunning Scottish weather. I realise this is very cliché but I really did marry my best friend at a beautiful venue, surrounded by all of our friends and family.

Pinterest played a huge part in planning our wedding and we took so much inspiration from it. Therefore I couldn’t let the best day of my life pass without sharing a few photos…

Fine dining at The Table

Back in March we started hearing about the hottest new restaurant in Edinburgh, The Table. It already had a lengthy waiting list and at a fairly steep price of £70pp we decided this would be a perfect venue for our first meal out in Edinburgh as a married couple at the beginning of August. We had a few days off after our honeymoon so we booked for the Thursday night. They only offer one sitting per night at 7pm but with 10 hours of prep time for the chefs and a 7 course meal to deliver, I’m surprised they can even offer this!

‘TEN SEATS, TWO CHEFS, ONE TABLE’

The restaurant is lovely, although it is more like sitting in someone’s fancy kitchen – 10 seats are all they offer, lined along the bar which overlooks the kitchen. Basically, the two chefs prep and cook everything literally 2 feet in front of you throughout the (up to) four hours you’re there.

So did it live up to the hype?

Dinner at the Table isn’t just a meal out. The whole evening is a wonderfully delicious, interactive experience from start to finish…

Review: Foundry39

The west end of Edinburgh is a great wee area for bars and restaurants these days.

According to their Facebook page, Foundry39 is “on a mission to serve up the best cocktails, craft beers, sourdough pizzas and adventurous burgers in your neighbourhood!” With a wealth of cocktail and bars in Edinburgh, will they be able to achieve this? Read on to find out… 😉

Educated Flea in Edinburgh

Just before the wedding we took a break from planning and treated ourselves to a date night at a new hidden gem in Edinburgh, the Educated Flea on Broughton Street. This is the latest restaurant from the team that own Three Birds in Bruntsfield and Apiary in Newington.

In case you’re wondering where this eclectic range of restaurant names came from, here’s the answer…

“And that’s why birds do it, bees do it
Even educated fleas do it
Let’s do it, let’s fall in love” – Cole Porter
