If your hair is constantly exposed to heat styling, sun and hard water, it will eventually become dry and dull from all the damage. Dry and damaged hair shouldn’t be washed every day, so its natural oils and nutrients have time to work their way through the strands – you can help with this by brushing often from roots to ends, in order to bring these oils all the way down your locks.

Another key rule to prevent dry and damaged hair is to keep it moisturised and well nourished. So, if you want to know how to make your hair soft and healthy again, homemade masks are one of the treatments you can try every one or two weeks.

Today, I’m sharing two very simple and quick hair masks to help improve dry and damaged hair. Just follow the step by step and you will have your hair looking healthy and moisturised in no time!

Hair mask 1: banana, honey, milk and olive oil

Bananas have antioxidants and vitamin C, so if you’re wondering how to make your hair soft this is the ideal ingredient, since it adds moisture and shine to your locks. After applying this mask your hair will feel smooth and full of texture!

Ingredients:

1 ripe banana

2 tablespoons of honey

2 tablespoons of olive oil

½ cup of full-fat milk

Step 1:

In a small bowl, smash the banana with a spoon or a fork. A ripe banana works best here since it will be easier to smash and make smooth, as you don’t want too many chunks in the end.

Step 2:

Add the olive oil, honey and milk to the banana and mix them together. You should aim for a well-blended, smooth and consistent final product, so you can also add and mix the liquid ingredients one at a time to achieve that result.

How to apply:

  1. Apply the mask from roots to ends, working your way down while making sure you’ve covered all strands of your hair with the mask. When you’re done, if possible tie your hair into a loose bun.
  2. Use a shower cap or a towel to cover your head. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes.
  3. Rinse your hair thoroughly and wash as usual – you might not need to condition this time!
  4. Let your hair air dry for better and healthier results.

Hair mask 2: egg, honey and olive oil

Eggs are rich in fatty acids and a protein called lecithin, which helps reducing frizz and making your hair smooth. Plus, they also help improve the condition of the skin on the scalp and make your strands stronger, improving hair growth. After applying this mask, you will have shiny and healthy locks!

Ingredients:

1 egg

1 tablespoon of honey

2 tablespoons of olive oil

Step 1:

Break the egg in a small bowl and stir it with a spoon for a consistency.

Add the olive oil and honey and mix everything together until you get a creamy and well-blended final result.

How to apply:

  1. Smooth the mask through your hair, from roots to ends, until all strands are covered.
  2. Cover the hair with a shower cap or a plastic wrap. Leave the mask on for an hour.
  3. Rinse your hair with warm water and shampoo until it’s no longer sticky.
  4. Let the hair air dry for better and smoother results!
