Apologies for the radio silence over the past couple of months; time has absolutely flown by! I was struggling with my MS as usual but we’ve also been planning for our honeymoon to Australia – not long to go now! But enough about all that, this blog post is long overdue as I painted these drawers a few months ago now.

I’ve always loved crafting but fancied a bigger project so I bought a solid wood chest of drawers from a charity shop in Leith with the view to give it a new lease of life with an upcycled makeover.

I bought some dove grey paint from The Range, pink paint from Asda and some vintage doorknobs from a little independent shop in Edinburgh and Zara…

How I did it:

  1. First I sanded the drawers with sandpaper (obvs.) from B&Q wrapped around a wooden block. Luckily the wood wasn’t varnished so this wasn’t too big a job.
  2. Next I painted the drawers with primer and waited about 24 hours for it to dry.
  3. Then I used the grey gloss paint and waited a couple days for it to dry and painted another coat.
  4. Next I screwed on the new doorknobs and painted the inside of the legs/feet with the pink paint.

Et voilà!

Now I need to decide what to upcycle next! Off to hunt for some hidden gems in the Edinburgh charity shops…
